Awards
AeroGarden has been awarded “Best in Category” recognition by the International Housewares Association. In all, more than 350 products were judged in 13 categories in the competition which honors innovative design and product excellence. The winners were announced at a gala ceremony held on January 30, 2007 at the New York Marquis in Times Square.
The International Housewares Association (IHA) is best known as the “World’s Home Authority” and “The Voice of the Housewares Industry.” The IHA sponsors the world’s premier exposition of products for the home and includes members from over 1,700 companies including housewares manufacturers, marketers and suppliers. Among them are corporate giants like General Electric, Westinghouse, Jenn-Air and KitchenAid.
The “Best in Category” awards are presented each year after careful deliberation and review of all new product entries. Judges consider innovative technology, user benefits and market response when selecting the winners. The AeroGarden was the undisputed winner in its category, beating out finalists from well-known brands like Cuisinart, KitchenAid, Salter and Soyabella.
“It’s quite an honor to receive an award like this, especially when you have a new product up against brand giants like Cuisinart,” said Michael Bissonnette, founder and CEO of AeroGrow. “We’ve always felt we had a real ‘wow’ design: the aesthetic, the performance, the simplicity of the plug and grow interface and, of course, a consumer benefit that’s never been seen before—garden-fresh produce, all year-round. To have the AeroGarden’s design and innovation recognized and appreciated by the leaders in the Housewares industry is especially gratifying.”
The AeroGarden’s #1 IHA ranking in the competitive “Food Preparation” category comes shortly after it was named #1 on Amazon’s list of “Most Wished-For” products for 2006 in the Home & Garden category.
